If you search the forum for the term blackwater you'll get some other threads that mention it.

Blackwater is the presence of tannins or Tanic Acid... Usually present when there are large amounts of decaying plant matter such as driftwood or plants dying and not cleaned out...

Not a bad thing... I keep my tanks blackwater....

    2 types of freshwater:
Whitewater - What most fishkeepers want... crystal clear water...
Blackwater - Looks like tea (my preference)

Water parameters change in blackwater conditions (lower PH and Harness to name a few)

    Nice BTW!!!

yes it's a jardini arowana, i've had it for 3 months now, it's growing pretty fast.. had a smaller one but it died 2 weeks after i got it..

my tank stays clear 95% of the time, i think with the black background and curved glass make it difficult for the camera to get a clear photo, they always have a yellow or brown tint to them

It is a really nice tank!

Thanks... nice to know why the water is brown.... I keep my water brown myself... but thats me! Actually the "blackwater" is the natural environment for those fish you have there.... they dont know that though so it does not matter! :)
