    Reshuffle of Fish

    Sorry to bother you,

Im having a reshuffle this weekend, as my safin mollies are pregnant again and i want the fry to have a chance at life this time - I have loads of friends who have near empty tanks so can give away what i dont need.

Just wanted to ask which of the following would be ok with the: 2 x 7" Balas, 4 x 4" Gouramies and 1 x 4" BGK. [argue] This is my 4' Larger tank (216 Litres).

(residents of my 81 Litre Community Tank)
    4 x Zebra Danio
3 x Neon Tetra [3ofus] - would these eat fry? i know stupid question.
    6 x Black Neon Tetra
    1 x Baloon Molly
2 x Safin Molly - these to be moved in to the tank later.
    2 x Pleco (glass sucker)
    2 x Talking Cat Fish
    1 x [angel] Fish
    1 x Female Fighter

or should i buy a tank divider? if so what is the best arrangement of fish.

    [withstupid]

    Regards.

    Ice,

So you're asking what to keep in the tank with the mollies for when have young? If you want to keep the fry in this tank then the bottom three need to be re-homed.

Woops...I missed the balas. Sry. I may have missed the whole thing now that I think about it.

So let me try and piece this togerther again (sry..tired).

You currently have balas, gourami and bgk. You want to know what you can house with this group not the second group?

If that is the case, the move your cats and angel over to this tank.

Then leave the rest of the stocking in the 81.

You're cat must be small since you still have neons in there with them. ;o)

James, i wanted to move as many to the 216L tank as possible, so the fry have much sucess as possible, without endangering the fish. please advise.

    many thanks.

OK I would personal recommend that you get a 10 gallon tank with a sponge filter, heater, and a bare bottom. buy a breeding trap, Place it in the 10 gallon and then add your female to the breeding trap.

once the fry are dropped you move her back to the main tank and let the fry have the 10 gallon to them selves.

That what I would do if that option is able to be done.

thanks writer, money is going to be abit tight for the next few months. so dnt think that is a option, might just go get some more plastic plants and make some hide outs for some fish, moved the cats and angel so far. might just move the zebra danio's too.

dont want to risk any of the neons or female fighter.

from personal experinse Even a heavily plant tank you may only have 1-5 of your fry grow to adults.

no propblem, if you don't have the money for a ten gallon I would just go with the breeding trap and keep you fry in the main with in the breeding trap.

    Re: Reshuffle of Fish

The problem you have is your stocking. You have a lot of aggressive species with community. Not a good combo in the tank even if just for a temporary setup. Adding anything else to the big tank is like adding live food. ;o)
