    Let me have em guys.

It still has to be a community tank of some sort... Not a species only or a single pair of fish.

I wanted to do Discus/Rams but cannot find Discus locally for a good price, even Rams are expensive when I looked at the one place that had them available. ($13 a fish for juveniles)

Second thought was to do Angels again, with the expensive Rams.

Ideally I'd like something that would have fry every now and then but it's not necessary.

are we stocking from the top down, or bottom up?

Thinking Background (Lt color/Black)...Sandy Substrate (pool Filter/Tahitian Moon)...Some Manzanita/Driftwood for the center....a nice longfin bristlenose pleco or two (Blue-eyed, or Starry nights if you can find them)...a small school of longfin corydoras (Panda/Paleatus)...Maybe a pair of the rams that I have (Bolivian Ram - Mikrogeophagus altispinosus) or quite possibly a pair of Apistogramma Agassizi/Cacatuoides Triple Reds if you prefer loud color-->(I can put you in contact with someone for these if you need)...And your angels (Platinum blues are pretty)...and for plants some nice tall vals sprawled across the tank?

Ps. hide a pleco log from kensfish and you'll definately have your breeding factor if you end up with a male/female bn.

    Hehe stocking not remodeling.

I'll check out what PetSmart and the other privately owned pet store has as far as Angels goes tomorrow, before work.

I thought I had a male and female BN but I actually think I ended up with two males.

    awe, come on!
Let me live my fantasies through others. lol!

Male Bristlenoses have the "antennas" growing straight up from their heads, females don't.

Wait, I wanna edit!!! if we don't do angles I wanna add some harlequins to the mix..they look great against greenery! And now that the male flame gouramis are of adult size they are quite visually striking too.

Unless we're not going for color? (are we? or aren't we?).

LoL I do not want to empty this tank again. Remember, I've done that twice in the past few months because Deep Blue Professional cannot put together a quality tank.

I thought females had them too, just smaller ones ?

I got some harlequins the other day, 6 of them. Might get some more.

there's look more like beard stubble (females) ... the males are tall and as adults will for V like branches off the tips. (referring to sexing bn pleco).

I wanna get more for the 90g (in regards to the harlequins), but my local petsmart hasn't had any lately :(
Been waiting for them to be $1 again.

ABN's are easily sexed, males have a large red spot on the top of their heads and females do not.

Yep. I've got two normal color ones and a clown pleco. Wish I had bought more clowns at the time. He's my favorite !

As far as Angels go... How many would you guys suggest ? The ones I'm planning on buying will be quarter size so they'll have a lot of growing to do.

Ordered 13 quarter size Angels today. Golds and Marbles. Went back to pay the insane price for those Gold Rams... Glad I didn't get them the other day. Covered in ich and at the brink of death. Sadly a lot of their tanks had ich today and several dead fish. Saw a catfish munching on a Roseline Barb. Would love to have some of those but not at $20 a fish.

what kind/type of rams are you looking at? I know for the most part they are pricey, but in my area you can get SMALL ones for about $10-$12 in the petstores.

Sounds about right pricewise with what they run here, they are more sensitive/delicate (out of the rams that is).

    take your time,anthony.

Get the fish from local breeders, not shops. you will be much happier with them. do your homework on them and the breeder, many many visits to see the parents and other fish in "action"

DO NOT BE AFRAID to ship them, they do just fine being shipped. I know quite a few american breeders who breed top quality stock. Oh and rams are $3-$5 a piece here and the 18th is our cichlid club swap......I can ship and QT if needed. Itll give me a reason to set up more tanks, got too much gear sitting idle right now. I am in the same boat, got a 38 tall,52fbh and a 210 that need to be reset and restocked completely.

    Can't find any on AquaBid.

If you find anything I'd be glad to pay for them and shipping plus a little extra for the leg work. :)

no need for the extra, I can say the bes t"mail order" ones ive gotten have been from hawaii discus, the guy is phenominal and very detail oriented with his fish. 8 of my 13 are from him, bought 8 a year ago, still got those same 8 today and two of the pairs are from him, sent as pairs.....
What strains are you looking for? there are alot and like live bearers they all get named by the breeder, so 10 different named fish from 10 different breeders are more then likely the same fish, its enough to piss you off when researching them.

Well I've already ordered Angels so really all I'd like to get now are some Gold Rams.

Ive had gold rams and will NEVER have them again, they are vicious little suckers amongst themselves, Im not sure why but I had 13 of them and one female literally put down the death on the other 12 in a matter of days. this was in a heavily planted, heavy driftwood 210g tank, more then enough room for them to coexist(they actually only get territorial during spawn) but I guess the experts got it wrong with that strain, its not uncommon either from what I am gathering from monster tank owners.
