I am getting a 75 gallon tank tomorrow and I am interested in hearing what you guys and gals would out in a tank of this size. I am a cichlid fanatic and am thinking about a pair of red tiger motas, or some other cichlid pair. Any ideas?

I know, Discus are quite a difficult fish to find.... I think there are 2 stores in the entire Richmond area that sell them. Both are Mom and Pop pet stores.

I thought about another african tank, but I really dont think I want to get back into them. I am really leaning toward a larger CA/SA specimen tank or maybe a pair. Or maybe a larger African pair, but I am not very familiar with the African side of things larger than 4".

All the better reason to do that! One of the best think about keeping fish is the learning that is involved.

    Re: Stocking ideas

So I went and got the tank tonight, I got it for $150. Included was the tank, stand, heater, fluval canister filter, and a flourescent light. All in all the tank looks to be in really good condition, it needs a good cleaning (it was previously saltwater, but not as bad as most salt tanks I have seen). In the next few days I am going to be cleaning, the tank, and filter. I will also be spray painting the back side black.

So I have put the first coat of paint on th back of the tank (I am very impatient lol). The filter is a fluval 405, I am going to add the ac50 that I fixed and took off of my 40g planted tank to the mix as well. I think that I have decided to move the fish from my 75g show tank into this tank and sell it. If I do that I will be adding another canister into the mix.

Pike Cichlids are cool. I have had 2 orange pikes and they are really pretty fish. They mix pretty well with other fish who are equal in size. I had one with an Oscar and a Managuense...

I used to keep a lot of south american cichlids and the Orange Pikes were definitely some of the coolest and prettiest fish I have had. Good luck with the new tank!
