I have no idea what kind of catfish this is, any guesses? He/She is about 10" with HUGE "feelers".

I dunno, but I can only imagine the amount of food it takes to maintain their health!

It looks like a very large pictus, but they only get around 4.5"

Im thinking that its not a pictus, but a pictus like catfish. He looks like a blochii or a albofasciatus. There is a heated debate going on elsewhere as to what he is amd all that can be decided is that he is from the Amazon River basins.

Elsewhere being another site? I know of a site that if you have pics of a catfish, you can post it on there and they can help you figure out what it is. I did it with a couple of synos I had, and they helped me come to the conclusion that I already had, that they were hybrids.

Yeah, Im putting out feelers on a local forum in NC and then tapping into larger databases. Hybrid is what I am hearing as well.

lol that's the site I was talking about (planetcatfish). If you'd like I could post a pic on their ID my catfish section and see what they say?

Two more replies. One person loves it and thinks it's absolutely beautiful. Another thinks it might be a Pimelodus ortmanni and wants a better side picture of it to see. I just googled that catfish, and I guess it's a pretty new species and kind of looks similar to the one you have.
