I moved him into another tank..what do I do now????? WHY did this happen, NOTHING has changed in the tank! What can I do to help her?? Re: help here angelfish!

Put some Pima and Melafix in the tank. That will help it heal and prevent bacterial and fungal infection. Be careful with the fry though, make sure you don't overdose on it.

thanks will hit the supply store now..just can not figure out WHY this happened, the female ate all her fry last night, think I should have left the dad in the tank..looks like he was the good guy here, and tried to stop her!

I'm not sure. I've never kept Angels before. Maybe BobV can help you out some. I'll PM him and ask him to give his opinion.

alot of factors unseen sudden movement at the tank both parents were not sure of the fry size of the tanketc etc....
moving the male upset the balance and secureness of the tank she probally thought that he was eaten and ate her fry because she was afraid.
Next bath i suggest moving the fry and raising by hand all ya need is a tank and an air stone and some met green or blue.
dose the tank with the blue or green till its is dark <get the water from the tank they breed in if heated add a heater etc> that what the eggs are on and 24 hours after they have finished move it to the other tank place the air stone so the bubbles move over around the eggs but not like a jet stream right under them. Everey day take a little watyer out of the egg tank and replace with the breeding tank water and dont add anymore blue or green by the time they are wigglers or freeswimming the water sould be clear and start feeding Baby Brine Shrimp or first bites and change the water daily 75 to 90% and they will grow big and fast.
I have a breeding pair of marbles that give me about 300 fry a year but right after they do their thing they turn on one another and fight bad so i have to put them back in the big tank.
Now i have a breeding pair of Koi angels that are the perfect parents and attack me when i change the water in the tank.

Think carefully about breeding bettas.....................................Ok now you see the female is trying to eat the fry but the male is protecting the fry so you should switch them and use some stress coat for her.

umm..I don't have any betta's. I have angels, and the mum moved them..I just though she ate them..thanks for the advise, but I don't use stress coat at all, no need for it in my tanks..working really hard to be chemical free...except for 911 help, then they go into a quar. tank to be treated so my "real" tanks don't get messed up..

maybe a lat reply but angels when they are breeding they test each other with lip locking and they get really aggresive like my male on took out a whole chunk from the females tail i would recommend you spereate them for a while add some salt or just get some dither fishes
