My sister has a pair of angels that had spawned together a few times. (Fry did not live past about two weeks) About a month ago the male has decided that he wants to kill the female. Domestic abuse :( She has separated them to prevent injury to her fish. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the problem?

Angels even as a pair do quarrel. They lip-lock a lot and defend the eggs together getting rather violent at times. It is normal. How aggressive are they being? My 2 breeders, the male damaged the females lip in a lip-lock. I have been dosing my tank with meds to be sure she does not get bad things in her sores. So far she has been good and laid more eggs (currently fanning).

I doubt that the male wants to hurt her because the babies dont live. She needs to pull the babies out at free-swimming and put them in their own tank like a 5 or 10 gallon til they get bigger.

Another thing to consider is the size of the tank and tankmates. Its common for an angel pair to "fight" as part of the mating ritual, they typically work this out on there own then produce a nice spawn for you :)

What size tank are they in? I have a breeding pair in a 29 and they fight REALLY bad sometimes so I think it's just how they get along;)
