AqAdvisor - the new stocking calculator

    Hi guys,

    Since now we are an affiliate site to each other, I'd like to introduce myself and the project I have been working on since Jan 2009.

    I've started AqAdvisor on Jan 2009, went live on Sep 2009 with around 200 species. Since then, the site has been updated weekly without exceptions until now. I am still actively improving the site every day. I am open to suggestions, feedback and even constructive complaints. If you don't agree with it's report, please let me know too. If those are valid, I'd like to fix them.

    The calculator calculates bioloads based on formula, but also each species has its own bioload attributes, hence I have the flexibility to "fine tune" each species individually until they look right. Along with this attribute, AqAdvisor also features more than 40 other attributes, including things like size, pH range, temp range, minimum tank size, aggression, fin nipping, etc.

    Main features are:
    - Bioload calculator
    - Filtration capacity checker
    - Water change volume calculator
    - Species compatibility checker (this one is a tough one and still in progress!)
    - And more hidden gems. ;)

    If you own any species that are missing, please let me know! Every single new species added since Sep 2009 are requests from real users. We are now up to 863.

    As usual, please do NOT use this tool as a bible. I highly advise everyone to use it to narrow down possibilities but always check the final few candidate plans on this forum. ;)

    o.o; wow, thats alot of work
    Must've been hard...
    It lags really bad tho.... I'm having trouble using it...

    About 20 hours per week since Jan 2009. :)

    why do you have Heterandria formosa 2x? Wouldn't it be easier to just have both common names like so Dwarf Livebearer / Least Killifish ?

    I guess you sorted it by scientific name, correct? AqAdvisor uses what I call "alias". Both entries share the same set of attributes. I had to do this because as you mentioned, many species have more than one common names. Most people search by their common names for popular species.

    You can select any of them, and the result will be the same. ;)

    I'm still haveing trouble... my computer might just not like it. It does this to youtube and what not some times.

    Oh that's unfortunate. I just tried again, and the site seem pretty snappy... Not sure what could be causing this for you...

    Ain't worried about it. I'll just keep an eye on it. I'll collect feed back for ya till I get a problem.
    found my 40 gallon tank is only 46% stocked. =P

    I can't ge to your site either. It comes up aqadivsor but a blank sceen. let it download for over 15 min and still a blank scrren.

    I'm running the latest FirFox myslef. I get to do a few options, but it take FOREVER to load the first go'round

    internet explorer 8. Older computer but everything else comes up fine.

    I get to add my tank's dimensions and add one or two fish. Then it crashes and I have to start over.

    That's weird I have never had any problem with it
    Even on my older and slow computer
    Load in about 2 seconds on the newer machine
