blue crab spotted in the james river

    Blue Crabs in the James River?

    So my fiance and I were down at Henricus park in Richmond, VA which runs along the James River today and while standing on a floating fishing pier we notice off in the distance a little ways was a blue crab!

    Yes. A blue crab in freshwater! The water was really shallow at this point of the season. It was only about 7 inches deep, maybe less. Normally it is about 4 foot deep in that particular area.

    Has anyone else seen any moving about in the James River?

    I am not sure about blue crabs but I know some crabs begin their life in fresh water and move to brackish then into the ocean. Maybe this guy got lost? [laughing]

    Anyway, it was pretty exciting for us [glasses]

    A crab. It looked just like this guy.

    I wanted to "collect" him but I am sure he is happy where he is... although the James is REALLY disgusting and polluted. :)

    Haha shush Steven.. I could be on the brink of a scientific discovery here! HAHAHA.

    I wish I could've caught him and put him in a holding tank to see how he does.

    i put all my crabs on my "special" stainless steel holding tank on the stove [laughing] i doubt its nothing new though after all if you see it the people who actually research and do stuff there must have seen and plus you have no proof :confused:

    Haha. You can have the crabs, I'll bring some seafood delight for me! I don't know if it's the right name for it but it is basically octopus, squid, crab meat, and shrimp cooked together!

    I know it sounds gross but it is amazing!

    This is bad, talking about EATING fish on a FISH KEEPING forum haha... we're going to hell.

    One last note on it before Anthony kicks us off the forum haha. Go to Hong Kong King Buffet on Midlothian near the Chuck E. Cheese and Richmond Music. They've got it there and it's ;) ;)
