Calvus in crypts

    This was an interesting shot because my rainbows had just that moment spawned in the crypts (fruitless endeavor, of course) and the calvus always positioned themselves nearby so they could feast on the eggs as they fell. Devils! These are juvies in the pic - only 2" long or so.

    Nice shot. I've always thought Calvus' were interesting looking fish.

    Me too - bulldog looking. They look better when mature, with the big ole underbite thing going on.

    OMG!!!!Mbuna are my favs:) I just don't like the "pointy" elongated heads of the tangs.

    I have quite a few stories about mbuna - I ran into a few with good personalities, but I think they need A LOT more space than most people give them to truly appreciate them and observe natural behavior. You gotta admit they are colorful.

    I am in the process of setting up a 150 and that would make an awesome African tank, if I had decided to go that route. Maybe someday.

    I just love a fish like the calvus or comp - when they are full grown they swim out of their cave and look at you like, "I can kick your **s if I wanted to."

    Actually, I had a peacock once that could back up such a claim... ;-p
