How large is your fish ? If they are under 3" and colorful like the picture they are likely dyed or horomoned.

It will likely fade over time. If he/she was horomoned it may have health problems as well.

Mine is an adult and about 6.5" long. I used to breed OB Peacocks and they are not colorful when they're young.

Thanks! Mine is healthy right now...so let's hope it stays that way. I read that they can be aggressive. So far it seems pretty peaceful...although it is still young. Doesn't seem to bother anyone.

Here's a pic of my OB Peacock. Can you tell if it's dyed?
(Hope I did it right) [confused]

Yes, that guy was either dyed or horomoned. He's far too small/young to be showing that much color.

Do you think it will have any color at all when it's older? I'll be a bit disappointed cause I like the color. Hence the reason for buying it.

He may have some but I think it'll be washed out. It won't look anything like the picture of my OB.

Well, that's a little disappointing...Guess I'll just have to wait and see. What kind of temperment do they nomally have? Some say they're somewhat aggressive. Don't see any of that yet.

Aggression will vary depending on what exactly was bred into him/her. The OB gene isn't normal in Peacocks which is why they're considered hybrids.

Well, thanks again for all the info Anthony. Like they say ....you learn something new everyday. Just hope my fish stays healthy which is the important thing. If I have any other concerns I'll give you a holla.

Hey.. thanks Ted. I've been keeping an eye on my little guy and he doesn't seem to be changing in color. Not yet anyways. He's grown quite a bit since I bought him....still looks the same. Again thanks for the support on that.
