    Nice! I like your Mayan Jade... It is HUGE!!! Mayan Jades I think are one of the prettiest of the Domesticated Discus..... I still prefer the wilds myself though...

    thanks for appreciation.
    here, in Romania, wild discus is very expensive and hard enough to find these ones. also is hard to find a pure strain...our disadvantage...wild discus can be buyed from another europe country, but with high costs and many chances to receive few or more dead. me favourites are nhamunda rose...most beautiful ones....

    In the US here they are not cheap either! Especially the Heckel Discus or Discus-Discus depending on where you are. They are the ones like my Avitar. They are almost impossible to find... dont breed in captivity.... die easy.... often are purchased infected with disease and parasites and cost twice as much as the Domesticated.... that is the Heckels.... other wilds are about the same price as Domesticated ones but carry every other problem.

    Yeah I would imagine that would be hard to get wilds overseas like that. I at least am fortunate enough to live on a continent that is attached to the area they come from... means they are a bit closer...

    I still like your Mayan Jade the best! That one is PRETTY!!! I have one that looks almost the same as that one! It is one of my favorites... I am not a fan of the Orange/Red ones.... my opinion though... everyone who sees mine love them... I hate them... I just love Discus in general though :)

    my tank is just 3 weeks from setting up. those plants are now just accomodating to new environment.
    left corner : limnofila aromatica, in front of it is blyxa japonica, in right front of blyxa are eleocharis parvula and some HC "cuba"; in right of limnofila is hygrofila corymbosa siamensis;
    center: aponogeton ulvaceus; in front of it is blyxa japonica and pogostemon helferi;
    right corner : ludwigia repens red and rotala rotundifolia; in front of them, ground cover, marsilea hirsuta, and 2 bushes of blyxa japonica.

    now i have a pair of what you call Mayan Jade :D . I thought they are red turquoise :D, but if you know better, I can't contradict you. the rest are 2 pigeon and 1 leopard snakeskin. for the final setup, I think I'll keep only that pair, hoping they would breed succesfully. they breeded about 2 times in my comunity tank, but my ugly snails (planorbis) eated their eggs before hatching. now i put in aquarium 3 anetome helena, to kill those bastards :twisted: .

    P.S. sorry for my bad english :oops:

    Mayan Jades look like Cobalts.... Only they have more red in the marbling. The pigeons are actually Marlboro Reds.... same thing... pigeon bloods lack the black bars... Marlboro Reds are Pigeon Bloods with Red and Yellow as their 2 other colors...

    Here are the 3 main types of Discus
    Standards - Have 3 colors (Black, an base color and a overtone color) - (ie: Cobalts, Mayan Jades, Snakeskins)
    Pigeon Bloods - Have 2 colors (base color and over tone color... little to no black markings... if it there is black is "peppering" and not bars or lines) - (ie: Marlboro Reds)
    Diamond - Has only 1 color in its makeup and MAYBE some peppering in low quality - (ie: Blue Diamond, Green Diamond, White Diamond)

    To throw things off in names you even have sub-strains under the Marlboro Red category... for instance you have Red Sunsets that are Marlboro reds with the 2 colors that fade top to bottom like a sunset...

    I wish my Discus would breed :confused: It SO aggravating! They pair... break up but NEVER spawn.... grrrr.... congrats on the pair you have ;)

    PS - Your English is not THAT bad! Its ok... I would mutilate any other language other than english... so it is ok! :)
