Cichlid recommendations for 90g other than Convicts?

    Going to be getting ready setting up a 90g in the next couple of months. Right now I only have a feather fin catfish in the tank. He is about 6 inches & 6-7 years old and done well being by himself after the second one died a couple of yrs. ago. Want to put a couple of Sa/CA cichlids into the new setup and need some suggestions. Not some of the really aggressive types. I've always liked female convicts because of their coloring but am concerned about the catfish in the same tank. I'd probably start with 2 convicts about 2-3 inches and go from there. Any suggestions or maybe recommendations for other cichlids besides the convicts. This is my first post guys so go easy on me!

    I wouldnt get any more than 2 convicts together (male and female pair), and dont be surprised if the featherfin becomes super aggressive towards any other fish in the tank because he has been in there for so long by himself.

    IMO I wouldnt put in cons. I would find some Honduran Red Points (convict cousin). The hrp's will be alot less aggressive and better coloring than the cons.

    You're probably right about the featherfin Elder. He has been in the tank for probably 4yrs by himself and I don't want him to feel threatened. Fishbait I saw some Hondurans Red Tips on Aqua-bid and they are beautiful. Got me thinking buddy!

    elder? check with tangledupincichlids.com for Honduran Red Points. Someone on here in the Richmond area is looking to do a group buy soon, if I remember correctly.

    The color used for your username isn't very bright on a white background. Hope that helps UNCWNELLS, better now! Thanks for the tip on tangled up in cichlids nice website with an excellent selection of fish.

    hahaha, thanks!! If I didnt have such a great hatred for that other school it wouldnt matter. Tangledupincichlids is one of the best places to order fish, most are wild caught and each species has an explanation beside it.
