I have a 55 gallon freshwater fish tank that has an 80 gallon mechanical filter with two bio wheels (size E filters), heater, two line air pump, and a stick on thermometer. Just curious on what equipment I need to get to change over to a saltwater tank (fish with live rock)?

A protein skimmer is a must and you may want to upgrade your lighting depending on what you currently have.

    Agree.
Tank, High Light Fixture, Heater, Filtration, Protein Skimmer, Salt (for saltwater tanks), substrate optional but layers work well & live rock is defin. beneficial! Ro/di system would also go a long way for ya depending on your water.
