as far as I know all egglayers would starve on flake food, the only food I know they can handle is green water or Infusoria.

Food: Frozen Baby Brine Shrimp, Live Baby Brine Shrimp or Hikari First Bites (crushed food is still too big)

Filter off and buy a sponge filter.... dont turn off the main filter for about 3 days after adding the sponge DO THIS NOW (unless you have a sponge filter)

Fry start eating after a day or so free swimming (about 5-7 days after eggs are laid)

No problem... if you have other fish in the tank the convict fry has a high chance of becoming food too!

dont be alarmed if they eat the fry right after they hatch. my dempsey ate there first 2 spawns before the one that just hatched.

    Re: i have convict EGGS!!!

leave everything as is because since this is their first spawn high chance the'll eat it back try not to scare/stress them out so much you will be seeing a lot more eggs through out the year convicts are known as "bunnies of the aquarium" giving frys finely crushed flakes will be fine i wish mines have eggs my peacock basses can use a snack lol

80F is a good temp to get them to breed and keep deaseases away

Sometimes Cichlids do this.... they must have thought the new location is safer than the other location they moved them from

I would not move them.... You most likely will loose this spawn but its worth a try... after (if) you loose them, move them then before they spawn again if you really want to breed them... if not.... just leave them be.

The fry are SO sensitive to water conditions even a minor change can wipe them all out. Plus the stress of trying to catch them and they damage in nets really easy....
