Ok so march 29th my convict pair (newly established) laid eggs. A few days later they hatched. Now they're freeswimming and all is great except the pair keeps fighting eachother. Before they NEVER fought and I don't understand. I see one of them pecking at the fry too. I don't know if it is eating them or moving them but it's gotten me worried.

Any advice as to why they're fighting or what I can do?

Well maybe the other is attacking the other because (s)he's picking on the fry.

I do not have any knowledge of convicts though :)

It's weird, they will fight every now and then and then just be fine with eachother

good answers people! You fish are fighting because its what they do, the male is probably the one doing the primary care for the free swimmers and doesnt trust the female around the babes. After the fry are removed or all eaten depending on the tank mates, things will settle back down.

Also, what central american cichlids are in your 55 gallon?
