I decided to turn my 20 gallon high tank into a W/D for my new 125 gallon tank. I will post pics tomorrow when I am finished constructing the thing, I will also include a materials list.

Good call!!! I would do the same if I were you! Nice way to add extra water to your tank to balance those monster fish!

Wet Dry is finished and up and running, Ill snap some pictures after I finish tweaking the water flow and eat dinner! This was extremely simple, granted I had bioballs and the overflow box already so it only cost me 40 bucks to make!

Alright here are some pics of this beauty, I think you will see just how creative one can be when they realize the piece of glass they bought is an inch too skinny!

Looks good. I especially like the "ghetto" return nozzle. ;)

I was just thinking... Is the overflow gravity fed ?

There's no pump sucking the water from the overflow box down the tube into the white box thing ?

O no, its just a siphon from the overflow box into the U pipe into the back part of the overflow and on down the pipes.

I can't decide. :) I'm trying to run it in my head and get an idea on any pros/cons but it's late and my mind is ready for bed. I'll give it some more thought in the morning and see what I come up with.

hahaha, Its the only way I have ever seen it done, the only thing I can think of is that if the power on the return pump goes out the gravity siphon will be cut off by the overflow box instead of the pump continuing to run. I hope that makes sense.

So Im not really enjoying the niagra falls soundtrack that my wet dry is producing when it goes from the pvc pipe into the white box. I am thinking about placing the drawers back into it and filling them with polyfill. Or I could just somehow seal off the front of the white box and fill the whole thing with polyfill. Any ideas?

I don't think you do but I can't completely tell from the pictures... Do you have drip plate under the filter pads ?
