    Okay,
I'm looking at numerous fish foods contemplating what I plan on ordering in bulk (more than likely frozen) for the fish (mainly Discus) and am wondering if theirs any negatives to feeding your fish a high protein diet?

Anyone have any recommendations of quality food that will promote healthy growth and natural color? I'm open to suggestions ;)

Frozen Foods I've Looked At (DrsFoster&Smith) AND their protein content:
    [*]PE Frozen Freshwater Mysis 69.5%
[*]Ocean Nutrition Special Formula VHP 17.5%
    [*]Ocean Nutrition Formula Two 17%
    [*]Ocean Nutrition Discus Formula 16.7%
    [*]Hikari Frozen Krill 11%
[*]Ocean Nutrition Brine Shrimp Plus Frozen Food 10.3%
    [*]H2O Life Frozen Bloodworms 9%

    Foods Being Considered for Babies:
[*]Azoo 9-in-1 Artificial Artemia 65% (currently feeding)
    [*]Ocean Nutrition Discus Flakes 52.5%
    [*]Ocean Nutrition Spriulina Flakes 48%
[*]Ocean Nutrition Community Formula Flakes 47%
[*]New Life Spectrum Optimum Fresh H20 Flakes 47% (currently feeding)
[*]Hikari Baby Decapsulated Brine Shrimp 6.8% (currently feeding)

    Interesting Article I thought I'd Share-->

All my fish get a 55% (I believe) protein flake food which is supposed to promote growth. I got it for fry mainly but I feed it to everyone every day and haven't seen any negative effects.

I would say that feeding a high protein diet to Discus should have no real disadvantages, now when you get into talking about some African Cichlids that's a whole new can of worms.

Now when I kept Africans I used to feed them Dainichi which is a very good food. I believe that had a protein content of about 45%.

Thanks you two, I was unsure and in my head figured better protein = better health...but there's always something coming out saying one way or another.
I on the other hand like to discuss it with actual fish owners and get their input :)

Any Recommendations on foods other than what's listed? I have the NLS flakes anthony, but I've found alot of the flakes are high in phosphates (phosphates=nasty algae...for me at least).

If you want I'll send you a bit of the food I have and you can see how you/your fish like it. All my fish absolutely love the stuff.
