Never glanced at it before until now...curious where the info came from?

    Example:
"As a GENERAL rule you can put 1" of fish (At Their Adult Size) per 2 gallons of water. "

Shouldn't this actually be 1"/1g? Never heard the 2g before.

Min size for an Oto Cat is 30g? Not so sure on that one myself. 20g for a school.

Some numbers just don't seem right. It's all good...just merely curiosity.

I'm still going over the gallon recommendations that are on there. It's a work in progress because we're (Dawn and I) are working on adding aggression to each fish and eventually each fish will be on their own page with a picture, water parameters, etc.

The 2" per gallon rule was what I added. The 1" per gallon rule is old and IMO shouldn't really be followed. The 1" per 2 gallon is more conservative and should help new fish keepers from cramming fish into a small tank.

Everyone is going to have their own opinion on the minimum tank size a fish should be kept in, the list will never please everyone. :)

Sometimes I wonder if we've created a migraine rather than a helpful chart. Haha!

Well...I would definately not use the 1"/2g rule. For the experienced fish keepers we know that the 1"/1g is not effect for some species such as neons, khulis, inverts...however as general practice for the novice, the 1"/1g is a good place to start.

I don't agree and like I said, the list isn't going to please everyone no matter what it says.

Bad choice of words as Otos don't school but should be in groups of 3+. Sry

Yeah and like I said, I'm still going over the tank sizes and adjusting them a bit.

Hate to say it, but Anthony and I already had this discussion and felt it best to lean towards the more conservative side. I know everyone won't agree with us, but we are moreso gearing the sizing towards the ones who have no idea (in hoping they won't highly overstock their tank and end up with a nightmare, rather than a joy of a tank).

ok..but telling someone that they can only put 5 neons in a 10g tank and that's it...ah...don't sweat it. It's always good to debate.

    ;o)

I hear ya, but it's better than telling them to stick 50 of them in a 10g.
And once they compile their list they can always check it on here with others who can help them tweak it a bit...as others have already done.
