Fish Webcam

    Well my Geek Squad UPS system blew for the 2nd time yesterday. They no longer sell it so I have a gift card for $151 and some change. I tried my best to find something to but but couldn't, how sad is that. Anyway, I was thinking I would blow it on a webcam and a 24' USB extension cable and set it up near my fish tank. :) What'cha think ? How crazy am I ?

    Haha, you sound like me when they screwed up and sold me the computer that had the bestbuy partition on it and couldn't boot up...couldn't find anything in stock I wanted so after ripping them a new one because I came back for this pc because they were supposed to do the optimization on it and apparently never did because they woulda found it couldn't boot (was a store display repacked from what they figured)..well needless to say the back and forth running to the store and waiting in line and I ended up with a gift card for my not reaching across the counter and snatching someone bald :)

    Couldn't find a darn thing I wanted so sold the card on ebay and pocketed the cash :)

    Picked up an HD webcam just a bit ago. See what I can come up with as far as a feed today.

    Well, I've have both a live stream and photo image able to run. I can't really do the streaming part because I'm on a 5GB a month limit (Verizon Aircard) so that would eat up too much of my bandwidth. My tank is on the opposite side of the room so I can't keep it running constantly because I have a 18' USB cable running across the floor when it's up which is a disaster just waiting to happen. Now to figure out how to rearrange the room so I can keep it running more often.
