Couldn't sleep and was possibly thinking of grabbing the 3g eclipse that's on sale at foster and smiths for the kids betta (If I have enough clearance being the wall is sloped-finished attic).
    http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=3848

    Existing tank is a 2.5g perfecto glass aquarium 12"L x 6"W x 8"H
    IF room...the eclipse 3 would be 12"L x 7 & 1/2"W x 11 & 1/2"H

I know, not much difference, but I like the closed canopy top with the built in light...the clip on light that I currently have mounted to the wall bothers the BLEEP outta me!

Now, IF I were to do this what could I use the 2.5g glass tank for??

:D Wondering if it would be possible to convert it to a freshwater sump so I can utilize the extra filter (the azoo palm hob) & have a place to stick the heater (debating between a 50W 7" Hydor or a 50W 7 & 1/2" Stealth Pro) and heck, maybe even be able to place a co2 setup such as this http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=14711 and/or a tiny uv sterilizer in there as well. PLUS, it would make partials/dosing easier too! (everyone knows how easy acrylic scratches and the tight clearance above the tank is a pain in the butt too).
;) This way, all I'd need to do through the 3g would be feedings and everything else would be done through the 2.5g ;)

 What I need to know is IF this is a possibility what would I need to do to make this a reality? Is there a way it can be done without having to drill a hole into the 3g eclipse or the 2.5g glass? Because I definitely don't want to have to do that!

  If not, any other ideas on how to make the 2.5g useful??
(it would need to sit on the floor about a foot down from the 3g eclipse and wouldn't have room for lighting)...and would only be visible from the short (6") side...all other sides would be invisible since it would be sandwiched between the back wall-a sloping wall on the right- and a stand on the left (tight fit)

I don't think it would work out well or worth the effort for that matter. Looks like the Eclipse is a closed system. You would need an overflow from the 3 to the 2.5. A small pump back to the 3. Or drill a hole. :eek:P

My advice on the CO2 system...go the DIY route instead. Cheaper...longer lasting. I think I still have to one I got when I first decided to go CO2.

yea, that's what I was afraid of James...I guess it's willful thinking. Haha! (woulda been sweet to do everything from the 2.5)
And the eclipse 3 is a closed system.

No clue on the diy co2...guess if I go that route it's something I'll have to look into/ask you about.

yeah, thats not gonna happen without extensive fabricating. if the eclipse was drilled then there would be no question on it.

I'll hit ya up if the need arises James. Thanks for the input...I thought it would be a pain in the butt to do, but figured it was worth a shot to throw it out there to see if anyone had any "inside" ideas of how to do it that I wasn't aware of.

Just didn't want to buy another tank without a use for the previous...especially with space being a commodity these days.
