so i noticed one of my tetra's just now going spinning around its body in circles, at first i thought it was dead and the filter's current was causing it to do what its doing. So i caught it in my neck, looked at it for a few seconds, didn't even flop until a few seconds later, so i put it in my sick tank, sadly no heater or filter or light in the tank, and it's still doing the same thing, what could be going on?

Few seconds later update: the fish slowly sunk down to the bottom of the tank while still breathing rested for a few seconds, then did the same thing, and now it's resting again, i think it might be trying to fight for it's life

oh, and it's swimming again, i don't know if it's "playing" or dying, i think more so dying or like has a brain tumor or missing fins and can't swim properly, which i'm having trouble seeing them

My guess is whirling disease (you can read more about it through wikipedia).
Are the eyes intact (loss of an eye can cause this behavior)?
Torn Fins can also cause it (as you already guessed).
Are you water parameters within normal range? Maybe do a 50% water change and see if theirs any improvement.
I'm betting that the fish is on its way out, spinning is NEVER a good thing.

I agree with dawn. You should watch your others carefull if others start to do it there probadly is something wrong with your water parameters.
Or a disease is in your tank.

If you try to feed it does it still spin? And if so can it catch it's food?

Placing a fish from a heated tank to a non heated tank is not a good idea when they're sick. The temp change will put a huge amount of stress on the fish.

True and to much stress can possibly kill your tetra since the're smaller and cant handle to much.

you better slowly adjust it if you do...going from heated and unheated will defin. shock it/stress it

I'm thinking stress--maybe fast transfer/dramatic change in ph...something along these lines.

I am thrilled to hear it's doing better!! Yay!
