Here is what 500 goldfish fry look like.
Half will be fish food by Saturday
It will take my son an I about 2 hour Saturday to cull them.
In three or four weeks we cull again another half will be gone

We'll take out the weak, bent spines, all the single tails at about 7 to 10 days
You could rise them for 20 cent feeder fish but I don't have the space or the time to spare on fish that will bring a 3 dollars a hundred

Will they all be fish food or will some stay alive?

About 70% will be fish food
The rest will be sold for pet and pond fish at local shops around Tampa at about 6 months old.
Out of 500 there will be maybe 5 or 10 that I'll grow all the way to 2 year old these will sell at auction.
Out of those 5 or 10 there will be maybe 1 that will be a show quality fish that I will keep and continue to grow-out.

wow, I didn't realize there was soo much work into getting quality fish...I mean I knew about the forever feeding...growth that seems to take forever..but never dealt with fry numbers quite so large or culling process.

Yep. Breeders often cull 70%(as either trashed or feeders), sell 20%(as pets or to other breeders) and keep 10%(to breed for better fish, or use as show quality)

Goldfish fry do grow fast at the start they will be1/2 to 3/4" by one month old then they slow down
That's is one reason they grow so many of them for feeder.
