got more halfbeaks

    picked up two female halfbeaks to go with the 2 males I had, going to try and breed them, they are livebearers like guppies, will show pics when and if she gets preggo

    my snoball pleco finally came out had about 2 minutes before it bolted back in the driftwood, very elusive fish

    nice fish i wantd to get a placo like tghat but it was $50 at the lfs but ya i didnt have the money

    they are 80 bucks at my lfs. My uncle picked this one up from a fish swap in michigan for 18, was going to get 6, but his buddy only had one left [banghead] , i'm going to have him try again next swap, that way if he gets me 6 i'll keep a 1.2 and sell the rest to my lfs and make money on it as well

    how do you tell between the males and the females? i've got 2 half beaks, 1 with red fins and the other is just plain white/silver

    if you look at the anal fin it has an appendage that is attached to it( it is a andropodium) it makes the fin looked notched,and females are usually less colored in the tail and anal fins, but that would depend on the species you have. the females anal fin looks more rounded and not notched, hope this helps

    the anal fin looks like it is notched, or has two sections of fin, need to look at each fin more detailed, maybe shine a flashlight on the fins and look at them in a smaller container so you can look closer
