Green Water in planted tank

    plant tank problems
    can anyone tell me why the water in my 20 gallon tank keeps turning light green? it wasnt like this till i put in a piece of planted driftwood and a few other small plants.

    Well, green water is free floating algae.

    thanks anthony..it seems to be doing fine now..i did a water change and turnned up the flow on the filter.. i also added some algae control drops.this did the trick,the water was great a few hours later.

    Be careful with those algae drops, they can very easily kill fish.

    i only added 10 drops, 1/2 of what it said to add.i was afraid of hurting my angels..lol but anyways the water looks great

    <--I had the same issue in the past and even with higher partials I kept getting it even without the tank being near a window...my solultion was a uv sterilizer :)

    quick stolen definition> Device designed pass water in close proximity to a light source in the Utra-violet spectrum. Normally fitted in the return line to the aquarium after the primary filtration system. UV kills pathogens and free algae organisms.
