OK, last night I took my father with me to windy city discus, met the owner chris once again and first time visiting his breeding room. OMG OMG OMG this guy has his crap together, over 30 tanks, none smaller then a 20 long and biggest was a 125. he had 7-8" discus in there a good dozen of them with a dozen angels then onto the other tanks. had tons of adult breeders, some with eggs and babies some with just eggs. I was quite suprised at how often they broke the surface(adults).

We picked out 3 blue diamonds(white with irridescent blue dorsal and tail) and 3 gold/bronze looking ones with red fins, also I am picking up wild angels at a buck a piece and a pair of electric blue rams. angels and rams are for my 52, the discus he had were in with tons of different fish. in the 125 tank, he kept some neons and cardinals in with them to keep them mellow.

After seeing them full grown the 150g tank is on order as of last night.

I will take pics on saturday when I go back to pick up me new mates.

He swears by a bloodworm/beefheart mix and feeds tetramin as a treat due to its protein content.

Now, this is my question, do any of you discus owners feed kens flakes to these guys and if so what flake do you use? then the next, what is the best food to feed them? Id love to feed them and my other SA tank the same.

    That's very exciting.

I've been feeding my Angels Wardley Advanced and have been very happy with it.

which formula are you using, seems they have a very similar diet, they will get the frozen and live but mainly as a little kicker food for growth and color, flake is loaded with great proteins. also kens has one with marine something in it to aid digestion in FW fish.

I feed frozen blood worms and occasionally beef heart. The beef heart is supposed to make them grow super fast. Makes the water real nasty though...

    I feed a variety...as of now I'm alternating between:

    Frozen:
    Bloodworms
    Spirulina Infused Brine Shrimp

    Flake:
    wardley advanced nutrition
    New Life Spectrum Optimum Freshwater
    Angels Plus "The Works"
    Angels Plus "Meat Eaters"

    Tabs:
hikari algae tabs (mainly for the plecos, but they will fight them for these..haha)

    Fresh:
zuchinni (mainly for the plecos, but they like to pick at it too)
cucumber (mainly for the plecos, but they like to pick at it too)

I've never tried Kens Flake food, but did try the algae tabs and won't buy them from him again...they dissolved too fast and made the water yucky as a result.

He usually gets an order once a week and then holds them to make sure they are ok. Did you ever call Hans for a price list?
