I am looking for a good aquarium Heater for my 55 gallon tank. Anyone have any sugestions? I have a clown knife in the tank and i need one that is going to work properly. I have been through 2 in the past year the one just stopped working and the one that is in there now the light comes on and it works but will not get the tank over 76. Both heaters i have gotten have been the right watts.

Before i go and buy another i just wanted to get some opinions.

    thanks guys!!! [bfish]

What brand were you using ? I've always had good luck with Visi-Therms.

stealth and ebos are good. Don't scrimp of heaters, get good ones because a heaater failier has killed many a tankfull of fish. I recently lost a whole tank of synodontis petricolas due to being cooked by a failing heater

OH, I might add, when the opportunity arises, opt for two smaller heaters instead of one, if one of the smaller ones fails in the on position, it may possibly not overheat the tank, and the opposite is true, if one fails to come on, the other one should maintain enough heat in the tank to keep it healthy until you notice the failier.

I'd go with Stealth or Hydor (they've always served me well).
Also, Hydor makes an inline & cable one depending on your needs.
If utilizing 2 heaters always make sure you set them a degree or two apart ;)

Im also a big fan of Stealth heaters. Good heater and isnt made with glass so you dont have to worry about it shattering...

I use aqua clear brand and never had a problem. Had it for about 4 years now.
