Well, The last time I visited this site I was asking for advice in getting my first Reef tank going. Here is a picture of my tank after being set-up for 7 months. I saved money wherever I could but made sure I kept the highests quality components at the heart of the system. So Far everythin has been great. Here is a quick description of my set-up.

    90 Gal Drilled ( 175" return)
    40 Gal Sump with Refugium
    Bubble King 180 Skimmer
    Red Dragon 6.5 Return pump
Ecotec MP 40W Power Head ( this is the most amazing pump ever).
Tek T-5 Fixture with Giesmann Bulbs and supplemented with High output LEDs
Profilux 2 Control center, PH, Redox, TEmp probe
120 lbs of Tonga Fusion Live rock.
RowaPhos Canister ( to filter my arch enemy - Phosphates.)
    Quick list of corals
    Candy Cane Coral
    5 Acans - Some Ultras
2 Miliporas - Pink and Light BLue
    1 unknown Acropora
    1 Tri Color Acropora
    1 Ausie Montipora
    1 Superman encrusting Montipora
    1 Green Torch
    1 Sun Coral
    1 Large Brain Coral
1 red Stag ( frag - couldn't afford the colony.
A bunch of other various zoos and misc corals.
A bunch of fish. 2 Tangs, 4 Cromis, 1 Blood Shrimp, 1 Cleaner Shrimp, 1 Phsycodelic Goby, 1 Fire Goby, 1 Pistol Shrimp, 1 Watchmen, 2 Beautiful
    Mated Clown that Host Anemone

7 months later... I'm thrilled with the outcome.

that 1 Ecotech Pump replaces 2 Maxi Jets, 1- 1200 gph, 1- 900 gph and one hella ugly Korallia 4. This pump in reef mode provide perfect current for my entire tank and take up very little space. It also reduce my energy consumption and reduces the heat build up in the tank. Honestly, It's a must have for me. My corals look it!

Thanks every body for the kind words. I just bought a Christmas tree Favia, Floridia Mushroom and 4 more acros. I'll load pictures when I can.

What are your thoughts on keeping Acros under T5s???

I seem to be having success and not to many people believe me.

ok, just saw the price on the Ecotec MP 40W Power Head and there is no way i'm spending that kind of money on a powerhead! I can't believe it costs over $400!

With the t-5 lighting and the acro's i ahve seen many do it. I will be one of them soon but I will be overdriving mine with an icecap balest. The mp40 can be changed as far as how much gph it will push cali girl. The nice thing about them is that you can buy a battery back up for them witch is nice. I am not sure if I am goingwith the 4 foot 120 or a 90 gallon yet still talking it over with thewife. But I will be getting two mp 40's if I go with the 120 the have another option to have them work togther.

Lol. You get what you pay for. It's deal if you wrap your head around the fact that it creates Reef like waves.

Go with 150 gal!!!! 5ft by 2 ft.
IMO 18" is not deep enough if you want to keep Tangs and larger fish. If you don't go with 18" deep. I wish I would have gone with a larger tank right off the bat.

I thought about the 150 but with the 5 foot tank and t5 lighting you will lose alot of color options.

i would love the wave effect, but that powerhead costs more than my light fixture. I think i'll just stick with buying the maxijett mods

I just noticed you have a 46 gal tank. You would likely only need the MP20. you can pick that up for $290. The MP40 would be too much FLow as it produces 3200 GPH.

that's still a lot of money. But maybe i can get one down the line for when i'm read for some sps. I think the two mj 1200s will be ok for now if i stick with softies and lps for a while. And maybe i just wont buy the mods and get the mp20 later. My only worry is i have an annoying film at the top of my tank.

If you have Film at the top of tank you need to improve your flow from the return pump. What are you using for Skimmer?
