    Hi, I'm Sessh! I work full time at PetSmart as Fish and Pet Care Specialist and I assure you MY store is not one of those horror stories you heaaer about on the net!

    I also take odd jobs on my days off taking care of other peoples fish and clening their tanks.

    Not much of a life but it pays. And I enjoy the time with the fish and animals.

    Welcome, not all Petsmarts are bad! There is a good one by my house.... it all depends on the employees more than the name of the store!

    Like any business, there are employees that work for the money and there are ones that work where they do because they love it.... too often people fall in the first group!

    You're telling me! My manager said that before i started up in Pet Care, we had at least one dead fish return daily, as well as one of the highest nightly dead counts in the disctrict! And We also had a few Beardies with missing toes and such. The other employees just didn't know how to properly care and manage all the fish and animals.

    I second that! I have had no problems with the PetsMarts around here, but petco on the other hand...that's a different story!

    What's wrong with Petco? We don't have one near me so I 've never had a chance to judge their work.

    Personally here is my experience (1 visit that was enough)

    The fish are NOT well kept at all. I have heard rumors that they keep enough copper in the tanks to keep the fish alive (or half dead) and showing no signs if ich.... you put them in your tank and bam! you have an ich outbreak.

    At my Petco, the employees that visit had NO CLUE what was what. I asked for some plants and the employee working there gave me a stare like deer in headlights and also had no clue about the fish! This employee even had no clue what a Discus was even though they sell them online!

    The fish in the tanks looked sick and deformed (their Oscars looked like bananas!) All of the fish in their tanks were stressed and breathing heavy.

    Then lets go to prices, apparently they havent figured out how to sell products for a reasonable cost as they are about 8% higher than Petsmart.

    This is page 2 of the posts but this is where it starts up more about Petco.
