hello from boston

    hi everyone,
    my family and i are just starting out with the fish "hobby".i bought my daughter a 12 gallon hydrascope tank for xmass,and we were all hooked !! lol we have now moved up to a 20 gallon tank.we have 3 angelfish,3 giant dianos and a tiny snail that must have snuck in on the planted driftwood.we are now looking for a 55 gallon tank.our "HOBBY" has now taken over our lives !! thats right,i am a angelfish freak!!! lol i cant wait to add a blue pinoy and a orange marble to my tank !! i will try to post some pics of my tank soon..

    yes lemon,i know it is.a friend told me i should only have 1 angel per 10 gallons.. i didnt know this at the time,but they seem to be doing great!the 3 angels seem to always stick together.i have 2 that are about 4-5 inches long and 1 that is silver dollar size.i am going to get a 55 gallon soon.

    i have had a tank for 6 months now and dont know how to test my tank..my angels are doing great thou ! lol do i need to test?

    sorry ,i didnt tell you what i have... 20 gallon with 3 angels and 3 (small size) giant dianos..and a tiny snail that must have snuck in with a plant driftwood i got..

    I would defin test that water!
    Either have the lfs do it for you (which ime is a pain in the butt if something comes up during off hours)...or buy a test kit.

    API makes a great freshwater master kit

    quick info on the angels for ya:
    Max size 6"
    Water temp should be 75-82F (stable is key)
    Soft water (50-100 mg/l)
    Acidic pH (6.5) again...stability is more important

    Your tank size is the minimum size recommended for 2, so your pushing it a bit for 3 (just a warning because it depends on how big they get and whether you end up with a pair).

    Oh, and feed them a variety and they'll grow nicely for ya! (Frozen bloodworms, live brine shrimp, Tetra Flake Foods, etc)

    And if you want to toss a plant in go for something like a swordplant or vals (they like to swim through the vals) ;)
