Hello all I would like to thank all of you in advance because I am going to have a myriad of questions concerning cichlid compatability and ease of keeping.

What are the best cichlids for planted tanks? New world or african? Dwarves medium or large?

Angels or Rams. Africans and most CA/SAs will eat or play with the plants making your tank a mess.

Angels or Rams. Thanks. Do these species need native plants or can i go a different way. I was looking into mostly Asian species of plants.

Any plants will be fine, the plants you choose are completely up to you.

Welcome and I 2nd Anthony... Angels are great! Dont worry bout the plants. The fish dont know the difference! Heck, most of them have not even seen plants before as most breeders raise young in a bare-bottom tank.

Rams are pretty and even more a pain to keep!

Good luck and BTW, thank you for your service!
