Marineland Eclipse Hex5 Malfunctioning (Advice Wanted)

I have an Eclipse Hex5 made by Marineland that is three years old. Never had a problem with it. It houses one male crowntail betta. I went to feed Al tonight and noticed that there was no water pouring out of the filter, so I decided to check it out. Took the lid off and water was sitting in there, but not moving through. The pump sounds like it's working, the intake is not blocked or clogged. I took the whole filter assembly out to see if I could open it up and see what was wrong, but there doesn't seem to be any way to open the pump housing. Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas? I *really* can't afford to buy a new setup right now. TIA!

Have you tried unplugging it and allowing it to sit for a few minutes and plugging it back in?

Have you had any recent electrical spikes (power outtages)?

I would check the propeller IF you can access it, make sure it's not worn (ie blades shaved) and that it's seated properly and nothing has gotten caught beneath it (substrate).

What do You Think is the Best Aquarium Filter?

Yes to the first, no to the second...going to check the impeller now...and the intake tube doesn't come close to the substrate (there's about 4 inches between the two).

Okay, I just know even when you do partials and even some fish will disrupt the substrate. See if the impeller lifts out and shine a flashlight where it was seated to make sure their isn't anything in there (ie debris) IF you can.
I'm thinking if your still hearing the motor running that theirs some kind of blockage. That or your impeller is worn?

I can still hear the motor running. I ran water (tap on full pressure) through the intake after unplugging it and it didn't seem like it was blocked. I'm gonna check the impeller tomorrow after school (it's 1:30am here and I have class in the morning so I'm going to bed right now). Thanks for your input!
