    As the tite reads, I'd like some help or input on a dwarf cichlid list that I'm putting together.
    These guys/gals will be going in the 90g with the Discus and although I have read up on them I'm a little shakey when it comes to which ones will play nice with which other ones.

    Originally I had Agassizi, Barlowi, and Kelleri's being recommended as a good starting point..

    These are the ones I'm considering (which are being sold in pairs):
    [*]Apistogramma Nijssen (only females remain)
    [*]Apistogramma Baenschi "Inka 50"
    [*]Apistogramma Hongsloi Gold Red
    [*]Apistogramma Cacatuoides Triple Red
    [*]Apistogramma Trifasciata
    [*]Apistogramma Viejita "Rio Meta"
    [*]Agassizi Triple Red

    Really wanting to do a pair of each if there's no compatibility conflict?
    Also reading up I see you want 1 male to 2-3 females (if this is true, would I be able to simply add a couple Nijssen females to bump up the female population)?

    Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated as I've never kept these fish before.

    I wouldn't put a pair of each in your tank, a pair of one of them would be about as far as I went.

    why not? (wondering what the reason is behind not keeping more than 1 pair)

    I just think that doing that will cause overstocking issues, that's all.

    oh, okay. I was thinking it was an incompatibility issue.
    I'll be downsizing some of my stock (actually already started working on it)...so no worries there :)

    Actually, I wouldn't add a pair of each due to breeding aggressiveness. Once they pair and begin to spawn they're going to claim their space and from what I hear they get pretty nasty if someone comes close.

    okay, THAT was what I was wondering about...I've read where most were peaceful, but having never kept them I wanted to make sure as I know that's not always the case (where the information you read online is always accurate).
    Thanks!

    Yeah, I think they're peaceful normally but with most fish when they spawn they become aggressive when it comes to protecting their fry.

    Well after careful consideration and knowing I plan on removing a few things outta the 90g I think I'll be going with a total of 2 pairs:
    * 1 pair of the Apistogramma Cacatuoides Triple Red or the Agassizi Triple Red
    * 1 pair of the Apistogramma Trifasciata
    ----
    And I think I'll be adding something along these lines to help with the "territory" establishment:
    * http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0549113094
    * Coconut shell 1/2 with a "door" notched
    * https://www.directpetsupplies.net/disco ... 1p3180.htm

    Why not just buy a coconut cut it in two and notch a hole yourself, it's much cheaper.

    The biggest problem with the list besides territory space is Apistos from the same species complex can and will interbreed ie nijsseni/baenschi and hongsloi/viejita. If anything I would go with a small group 1m/2-3f of the cacatuoides and agassizi in a 90 gallon.
