I thought it would be nice for the "chefs" out there tell everyone their homemade mix recipes... I may be trying a few more versions of this and changing the recipe but this is my start:

    Seafood Mix
    1/2 lb Fresh Raw Tilapia
    1/4 lb Fresh Raw Salmon
6 Medium US Wild Shrimp Raw
    1 Overripe Banana
    1 Clove Garlic
    Handful of Tetra Color Bits
    4 Baby Carrots
    about 1 leaves of spinach
    4 Flinstone Vitamins

Basically you puree it all up and freeze it... Yummy!

The discus LOVE it and its good for them too!!

All in all I spent around $20 on the food and I have had it for almost a month and only used 1/3 of it... :) so it lasts about 3 months, 2 feedings a day to 10(ish) adult discus...

This my basic gel food recipe but it's different every time and a lot higher in vegetables than most cichlid mixes

    Ingredients
    5 cups drinking water
    7 packets unflavored gelatine
    1 adult multivitamin
    1 500 mg vitamin C
2 500 mg calcium carbonate suppliment tabs
    1 tsp paprika
    1 tsp flaxseed oil
    1 can pumpkin
    1 cup kale
    1 can mustard greens(no salt)
    1 can colliard greens(no salt)
3/4 cup canned mackerel or salmon or sardines

Add 3 cups water to blender. Place the Acidophilus tab, the calcium, vitamin C and the multivitamin in to soak.

Blanch kale 2 cup of water. reserve water for dissolving the gel.

Add fish, paprika, and veggies to blender. Blend well.
    For sinking food:
Pour blended ingredients into bowl. Add pumpkin.
Bring water used to blanch veggies to a boil and dissolve gelatine.
Add gelatine mixture to bowl and stir until well mixed
Pour into flat shallow container(s) to make a depth of 1/4".
tap container gently to remove any trapped air bubbles.

    For floating food:
Bring water used to blanch veggies to a boil and dissolve gelatine.
Pour pumpkin and gelatine mixture into blender and blend until well mixed.
Pour into flat shallow container(s) to make a depth of 1/4".
    Refrigerate until set.
