how do you clean terracotta pots?

    how do you clean terracotta pots?
    i was going to get a small one for my tank so the frog could hide and needed to know how to clean one.

    Scrub them then pour boiling water over them.

    Yeah, that will work. Make sure they're new or you are 100% sure no fertilizers were used in them.

    ok. i have some here that have never been used. i was wanting to use one. should i boil it? or just put it in the sink and boil water and pour over it?

    If you have a pot large enough to place the terracotta pot itself in and boil it I'd do that. You don't have to keep it in there long.

    these are little. i am using one. and i will boil it for like 30 minutes. if i break it in half will that be ok??

    I don't think you need to do it that long. I thought 5 minutes max. No, if it breaks it's fine.

    if it breaks i cant use it or it will be okay if i broke it and used it?

    You can still use it. A lot of people break them anyway and just use them to create small caves.

    Are you using those tiny tiny ones the size of shot glasses ?

    i am suppost to be getting some java moss and i wanna put it on top of it and kinda infront of it. i want some more plants so the fake ones can come out and that decoration thing.

    What I did with my pots is drill holes in the side and on top and placed christmas moss on the pots and put their roots through the holes, they grew around the pots and now cover it making it look like a mossy cave

    Yeah it does, as soon as I get pictures I'll post them, need a new camera first though. They should come with a drainage hole on the bottom of the pot that you can use, I was able to crack a large enough hole through the side that I could put it top down and use it like that.

    Don't be afraid to mess up a little, they should only cost between 20 cents and 1 dollar at walmart, thats where i got mine.
