ID please

    So I thought that this was a Red Empress when I bought it as a fry but now I'm not so sure.

    may have to work on the photo to bring out some detail before you get an ID

    Found a photo of a juvi for comparison.
    Yours has the same large eye, head shape, black stripe running all the way down to the tail fin, fin shapes seem to be spot on...it's the coloration that's got me (wondering if it's a cross breed with something else maybe) [scratch]

    But please keep in mind I have no real experience with these types (breed) of fish.

    Thanks Dawn.... and the thought of it maybe being a hybrid might explain the coloring that it does have... I suppose that it's not old enough to start coloring up so maybe it is a red empress... I just don't know.

    I'll continue to try to get a better picture and hope that it starts to show some color :)

    Thanks for finding it..and agree it does look like the female empress.
