Introduction To Board

Hi!

I am a newbie on this board, trying to raise a twenty gallon fresh water tank of Cardinal, snake skin, one pink tetra, a German Ram, several spoted dwarf cat fish, and a couple of African dwarf frogs. I have gone through several recyling crisises, even when only removing four or five gallons of water every few weeks. I think my problem is that I tend to change my bio filters' filter media too frequently sometimes. I find that using bio-bacteria daily at night in my tank works well to keep things happy.

I have several red lotus plants, a couple of African broad leaf plants, and recently got three Giant Marimo balls as well. I use Flourish liquid plant foods (iron, magneseum, and charcol suppliments daily) plus an under-substrate one on occasion seems to finally keep my plants alive and have learned the hard way to be senstive to the heat requirements since some plants like a cooler tank than others.

I keep a little aquarium salt in my tank and find that it works well for preventing general disease and had only one crisis when I had to treat my entire tank with antibiotics following buying some fish from an unknown source on E-Bay.

I may not write a good deal on this board, due to the time constraints of my job, but will certainly look at things written by others as time permits.

Hi,

I appreciate all of the warm welcomes as well as offers to help and for advice which I will probably take you up on in time. I don't have any pictures of my tank and it certainly couldn't compete with anything I have seen from you guys, so probably won't be taking any to show you; you definitely have given me lots of inspiration of what I would like to do if I had the room for a larger tank!
