Jack Dempsey Compatible with Oscar?

    Jack vs Oscar


    Will my Jack Dempsey kill my Oscar? I got them both at the same time about 4 months ago and the Oscar fought back for a while, but the Jack just keeps nipping at him\her. I put Jack in timeout and he leaves O alone but before the day is over, he's nipping again. :(

    How big are they and what size tank are they in ?

    I'd say about an inch each in a 55 gallon tank. The Jack seems very territorial.

    It's only going to get worse then, especially as it matures. They get to be up to 9" and are highly aggressive toward other fish.

    what type of landscape do you have.
    if it's wide open, i suggest you stack up some slat to create a bunch of tunnels and see what happens.
