    my moss is turning brown why?

    Lack of nutrients? Low lighting? If it is new, Shock? Wrong PH? Wrong water temp? Wrong water hardness? Bad plant that was weak when you got it?

    More info please.... It could be tons of things!

    well i give them plant food with eclipse 3 lighting i got like a week ago ph is 7 it was kind of brown because i traded it so i was like it should be fine

    Java moss is a very easy plant to keep. If it's turning brown I'd look at your water quality.

    I would suggest increasing lighting. What wattage lighting do you have on what size tank?

    its in a eclipse 3 tank with t5 daylight bulbs(are they good for plants?)

    It will say on the bulb somwhere look for a big W or the word watts.

    Java moss is a very hardy plant. Depending on how it was shipped/packaged, it more than likely will appear brownish in color. However, after giving it a good rinsing off and placing it in your tank, it should rebound nicely. I fluff mine regularly since I find all kinds of goodies in it. The fish swarm around when I do to catch the particles coming out. Just don't over do it with lights, ferts, etc....it will come back.
