I have the (standard, not longfin) calicos and am getting Albino offspring from them!
No problem in breeding them, moreso of an issue to get them to stop. Lol!
I have tons of babies swimming about my 90g :)

I too have some of the standard fin but have to say the longfins are by far my favorite.

oh believe you me..I defin. prefer the longfin.
I tried one once...and she didn't make it (think that's how I'm ending up with albinos in the fry).

I purchase mine from a breeder, maybe you just got bad stock since I have never lost any and I have probably 10 or better.

probably, but I wouldn't do the longfins with discus (i'd worry they'd go after them being the way they swim--pretty sure you know what I mean).

Honestly.... I have never cared much for any longfin fish... including the highfin discus... I like normal finnage! :)

    To each their own!

I have a few albino, standard fin, but I just don't care for them that much. I tend to like my tanks to be "natural" looking and I don't think the albino looks natural.

I can agree with you on natural looking fish! My favorite too....
