Hi all, I am new to the forum. I wanted to add some photos to the fish contest but I was late in getting my pics in. I have kids and work a lot so I am busy, whew. I just rescued a Blue Diamond Discus from a tank that had a Co2 disaster. His name is Lou Diamond.

I will try and post a few pics of my 100 gallon tank [bfish]

    Thanks for looking.

First off all...thanks to everybody for the kinds words, I really appreciate them and my condolences to the lost fish.

They are 4-5" so they are not that small. But I have no idea how they spawned. I have been told that they must be happy.

In fact, I was planning on taking the pair out yesterday and I got the female I believe into my breeding tank but the male kept hiding under the driftwoood...100% vertical so I couldn't get him and I decided to put her back in the main tank. This morning to my surprise they spawned again. I need to get them into a breeder tank soon.

As far as Lou is concerned. He is 4 and a half" and he was rescued from another tank that had a Co2 disaster. He was the only survivor of 8 discus. He is having a blast in his new home. My tank makes the fish look small but the fish are all about the size of my open palm and bigger. Thanks again for the compliments.

That is pretty small by the way. My wilds are about 7-8" in diameter and the smaller ones I have are about 5-6" in diameter....

Yah they are all juveniles [3ofus]. This is actually my fist experience with discus so I am kinda in the dark a little bit. I do know that they should get 8-10 inches which is pretty big. I have seen them fully grown out and it is amazing.

I have ten now and two are going to my breeder so I have to get a few more to replace them. I am hoping to be able to successfully rear discus fry. a couple of my lfs that I frequent said they would purchase some quarter sized fry if I had them so i'm on a mission. Seems like they are making it easy for me though, at least they are practicing [dancing]

8-10 is REALLY BIG for tank breed ones lemons wilds are that big because they have tons of room and water is VERY clean thats how they grew that big so you need tons of room and very clean water if you want them to grow that big. Also when they start to breed it stunts their growth so just seperate if you want them to still grow

Thanks for the advice. I think now I am just going to concentrate on getting the tank the way I want it. I am going to switch from planted to A pool filter sand base with much less driftwood. Probably smaller driftwood branches instead of trunks. I noticed the dark substrate totally takes away from the color of the fish. I also want to lighten the background. It is a dark blue, I want it lighter of possible.

It's all about the fish [nemo]
