about to upgrade, need filter advise 72G

Well it's time... I've finally moved and the last thing at the old house is the tanks. I've set up the new home for the Africans and getting it ready for water... Here's where I need some advise. The new tank (72 gallon bow front) doesn't have a filter yet... So what would you suggest I get/use?

The plan is to salvage as much of the 26 gallon water as I can and also have that filter run for a little bit since it'll have some good bacteria. But obviously that little hanging filter isn't going to be enough...

So the new tank... I'm planning on it having a similar base as the 26 does now, sand. I'm looking to have the new tank planted as well. So right now I'm thinking mostly black sand with some black/white eco as well.

So with all that in mind, what would you suggest for a filter?

Sump? how would I go about with that?

I was thinking the Fx5 but need to get some funds together before I can go that route...

    Any ideas for DIY?

Depends on if the 75g is drilled/or can be drilled.
-->(borrowed to save from typing out) a sump would increase the amount of water available for the total aquarium system, thus diluting dissolved organics in the water.

It could open up options for the aquarist in terms of filtration. For example, a canister filter could be plumbed into the sump, freeing up the back wall of the aquarium and creating less of an eyesore.
It would also allow the aquarist to easily incorporate a UV sterilizer.

Sumps work well for water changes and act as an easy place to dose an aquarium with any needed maintenance chemicals. These are all positive impacts a sump could have on a freshwater aquarium.

Also a sump could be used as a temporary holding facility (post quarantine), for new fish.

Well the tank is not currently drilled nor would I attempt drilling it... however the idea is very intriguing.
