Ordered some cichlids from Jeff Rapps:
    Nic
    Electric blue Dempsey
    Gold Mixteco
    Columbian Oscar
    Convict Orange Fins
    Rotkeil
    Blue Acara
All are 2" big and very healthy and lively.
Excellent breeder and great packing. He really knows what he is doing.

Dawn I ordered 7 fish all 2" juveniles. Jeff is located in NJ and I live in Virginia & total cost plus overnight by 10:30am shipping was $114 which I thought was very reasonable considering he is a breeder and not a fish store. I've checked out some shipping costs from other people and they are quite high. I believe the fish total came to $68.00 so $46 shipping isn't bad at all considering the high quality fish and service Jeff provides.

Thanks for the information. I am sure others that have cichlids will find it very useful!
That does sound fair imo>>I know at my lfs the itty bitties that aren't even 2" are $7 a clip when they are on SALE!

Yeah Dawn the fish were anywhere from 7.50 to 20.00 for the Blue Dempsey. But as I said he is a breeder so the fish you receive are very nicely colored and not at all like the run of the mill fish you buy at a LFS.

if that was an electric blue for that price ....it was a steal. My lfs charges just under $60 for 1 of them.

Cause I knew your mouth would start watering. You could fit an awful lot of them in the bathtub Dawn! Just don't tell hubby, let him find out when he gets home & plead total innocence.

thinking about pleading the 5th ...now I'm wondering if some pond plant baskets with lord knows what would make the "tub" look even better. Haha!

I'd wait a bit for the price to come down before I paid $85 for a 2-3" fish. I doubt if he'll sell many at that price.

Guess I'm lucky... my LFS has them for $35 at 2-3"... too bad they seem to be such picky eaters and docile (at least the one I had was, that is until he passed on, stupid LFS guy (different store) convinced me that electric yellow and red empress would be gentle enough to house the the jack. Now the tank is African only)

New World and African usually don't mix very well. I always take what a LFS guy tells me with a grain of salt. After all his job is to sell fish and thats his #1 concern especially for $35 a pop. If I need to find something out or get advice I usually go to the internet to forums like this one and ask my questions to people who have had experience.

That IS the way to go as the stores do just want to sell product and if you go into the store not knowing what you need, the LFSs around will see you and hear chings of the register in their heads!
