new guy intro

    Hi there,
    I do not have a setup at this time. I have been getting the supplies to start one up for my oldest daugther. (at her home not mine) I would like to set up a large 75+ tank of tropicals. I would be looking for people in the Harrisonburg Va. area. to chat with and get input on the best type of setups for a 75 gal. + tank.
    I can't wait to get into the trading post to see what other people are dealing with.
    Look forward to see more of this site and hope to make some good friends

    What's up man:) I would say go to a pet shop not a chain store a pet shop, Sylvias in H-burg or something. Look around and see what is available to you locally. Then read up on cycling if you have not already. Good luck:)

    Thanks for the responses, My daughter is an adult but does not have any experance with larger tanks so I have started her out with a 20gal. We'll see how that goes.
    Not sure what type of fish I want to keep. I have had community tanks in the past. I wanted to blog here for awhile before I decided what type of fish to keep. Thanks again keep teh comments coming

    I always suggest guppies for younger kids. With all the colors the males can have, kids are usually attracted to them.

    Hello and welcome, my brother lives in Harrisburg! I would go with a pair of SA cichlids so that your daughter has fish with personality and one that will interact with her like a pet.
