    Mabuhay!

DISCLAIMER - my tanks are more than 15+ years old so please don't mind the mineral deposits on the tank glass since our water-source is from a deep-well. I tried everything to remove the stubborn deposits but to no avail but please feel free to share what you think in order for me to improve my setups.

Finally, i was able to find the batteries of my digicam and i was so excited i took some pictures of my planted tanks eventhough its already very very dark. :twitch:

I swear, i was never successful rearing the so-called "red bacopa", reinecki and green/red

cabombas in my 25g but here in my 75g it looks like survivors and the red bacopa is now sporting

big leaves but more compact and an orange color. My problem is how to trim the red bacopa, i am really scared anyone who would like to share their experiences with this plant? TIA

    ai214.photobucket.com_albums_cc47_mujacko2002_DSC02601.jpg

These is the other half of my 75g, its filled with low-light plants. And i am really awed by the power of the sun although this side its not always hit directly i can see that they are pearling Is it a good sign?

    ai214.photobucket.com_albums_cc47_mujacko2002_DSC02603.jpg

My 25g after a little pruning, i added a tenellus (is it correct?)

    Challenge/s:
My 75g is sun-fed and i've noticed that the plants are in their "sleep" state when night time comes because most the leaves are "closed". is it harmful to plants if i turn the lights on at night? i do this because i want to look at it after i get home from work.

    TIA for any response.

    Pictures i took these morning

my 10g experiment, my substrate is a secret for now.

    Question:
Are these good items for a high-lighted standard 90g tank? A friend of mine would like to make an aquatic garden full of mostly colored foliage.

    2 pcs-T5 10,000k (55watts each)
    2 pcs-PL 6500k (55 watts each)

    or

    3 pcs-T5 10,000k (55watts each)
    2 pcs-PL 6500k (55 watts each)
    2 pcs -PL 6500k (36watts each)

    Enjoy!

    Godbless

Wow your tanks look like a mini jungle. LoL They look really good though.

As for the lightning, I'd go with the second set you listed and maybe even add an additional light to that.

Beautiful tanks!! Are they outside year around?
Off topic of tank plants, I noticed a plant on the top right side of your tank in a pot, is that a cerrus (sp)?

I have had the mineral deposits on my tanks before (I also have well water) and on the outside of the tank I used a Mr Clean Magic Eraser and it took them off, you have to scrub pretty hard, but it finally got rid of them.

i'll take that as a compliment and yes, it really looks like a jungle and thats exactly what i want to achieve. And thank you for helping me figure out regarding the lights. I tried the vinegar yet still failed. I now have a new solution to try, oxalic acid and i'll be trying it this weekend. wish me luck

    @lakemom15

Must be nice to live in an environment that would allow tropical aquariums to remain outside year round! Welcome to Aquarium Space as well.

Those aquariums look beautiful. Actually it seems you have a cozy little garden area there too. I used to be into ponds but enjoy they year round joys of my aquariums inside :D

    Mabuhay!

    @lemondiscus
thanks for the welcome and yes its nice to live in a tropical clime but i am really envious of plants especially flowers that thrives in cool-climates. Generally, i love gardening and my lifetime love would be orchids but most of it are already gone due to neglect because of school then and now office work but i am trying to save my remaining ones. I love ponds too, i'll be converting a part of our backyard into a garden pond because i just love plants.

    75g
i'll be adding a 15watt UV sterilizer to help me battle algae or i'll look for an internal filter that is more efficient than the one i have right now. There's just too much floating "debris" around.

    thanks

    Godbless

Does the rain that enters the tank cause any problems as far as keeping fish goes ?

It is cold (50's) and rainy here today... I would love to live a little closer to the equator.

O you mean stop bragging about laying out on the beach in the middle of october? Rain, shouldnt cause a problem, at least not in the Philippines. Here acid rain would be your problem. Otherwise, the rain should be clean enough to basically help keep your tank topped off. Maybe it would mess with the temperature a little.
