I have a 70 gallon huge tank with a large featherfin cat fish in it ... my big old Oscar died, I couldn't get rid of the feather fin so we made it a discus tank. While shopping for discus I also saw a tank of Male and female endlers. They were sold as pure strain N bar Endlers. I'm not sure what that means, is that a good thing? Either way i got a few pairs. All the females are doing well but it seems only one male remains? The fry which of course happened right away is all growing and doing well. I would like to try for more blue. Either way here are some pics. If you have advise and or some pointers i should know i would be happy to hear. I also love comments on my photos. :)

Well they're not black bars and I actually have never seen any with that exact pattern which leads me to believe they are a mix of several Endlers. They look mostly like double reds but without the double red part. Where did you purchase them from ? I see you're from Canada so maybe Big Al's ?

Anthony ... that is correct. They are from Big Al's sold in pairs as "N-bar pure strain endlers". Males and females where in the same tank. If they are pure i would like to keep them pure or mix only with other endlers. However if they are not pure then I guess ill just keep them going with a blue endler looking guppy down the road. I'd like to know more about them before I add a guppy tho.

    Thanks,
    Beck.

Well there's no such thing as an "N-Bar" Endler. At best you could consider them Pure (Class P). Class N means they are pure and they are traceable to their collection site. Buying them from a fish store really doesn't allow them to be traceable IMO. Looking at the body size and shape they look pure but also look to be a mix of two different types of Endler's.

I suppose if i can find some other endlers down the road i can keep my collection going and evenually breed out any guppy trait in them? I guess I just wont be too picky about what kind of endlers i breed them with huh ... :p I just hope for some kind of plan of action lol.

I don't think they're hybrids (Guppy and Endler). I just think they're a mix of Endler strains, giving them an odd color pattern.

hmmm ... i wonder ... ummm do you know where I could get some other endlers that have more blue colouring. I guess if they are a mix it doesnt hurt to mix them with other endlers :) but keep them endlers :) yeah?

I have some that have white/blue markings but they aren't like Guppies, they don't come in as many color variations.
