New'ish

Hello!

I signed up a while ago, but don't remember ever posting, and now I'm back and hope to be a bit more active around here (esp. starting this summer). About me, I'm a college student (graduating this June, yay!) from the Seattle area. I attend school in Denmark (I'm half danish, and school is free here, a second yay!). I will be moving back to Seattle for a year before I come back to DK for my masters.

I've got two fish (that my parents care for while I'm out of the country). Currently I just have two commet goldfish. The first one I've had for over 4 years. His name is Petito because he was small and petite when I first got him (just under and inch) but now he has grown to 6-7 inches. His friend, Cleo I've only had for a few months, and got after a long run of unsuccessful additions (likely because they were weak and unhealthy when I got them from the pet-store).

Up until 2 years ago I had a second 30 gallon tropical tank, but about two years ago while I was away, we had a huge power outtage (for over a week) and the majority of the fish didn't make it. The ones that did found a new home. It wasn't fair to make my parents do all the work.

The only reason they still care for my goldfish is because Petito's first friend, Largo got sick (and eventually died from dropsy), but Petito would circle below him, pushing him to the surface for air for the last several hours of his life. It was heart breaking to watch, but it changed my mind about goldfish (Petito in particular) for ever.

So yeah, a little info about me and my fish....

 

It was a sad day, but let me tell you, Petito lives the high-life for a fish. And he loves his new buddy Cleo...
