I noticed a few days ago my one Otto cat that I've had for several years (I originally purchased her in MA, took her to VT with me then moved her down here to VA. She's quite the traveler. LoL) has been hanging out at one spot on the driftwood pretty often throughout the day.

Today I was looking at her and she's FAT. I guess this question would be for you James... Do Ottos normally stake out a place to lay their eggs ?

Yeah she's pretty huge. All the others are their normal size.

I always thought being they were egg carriers they only got a lil large...that looks like livebearer pregnancy (like a female gupster that's overly knocked up).

Maybe she's the piggy of the bunch, (fingers crossed that she is preggo so that you might get some lil ones though).

Yeah that's what I thought too Dawn. She came to the front of the tank earlier and her breeding tube is extended. She still looks as fat as she did yesterday.

She does look pretty big to me.

It has been my experience that the female won't pick one spot in particular to lay eggs. They will be all over the place. However, I have also noted, IMO, that she will have a "favorite" spot to lay a majority of the eggs.

Now granted this is all just a guessing game of course, but when I find eggs, I usually find more in one particular spot than the other. And she will rotate this from time to time, but comes full circle back to what I think is her favorite. Right now it is a small crypt for some reason.

I'm not sure what's up with her then. She seems to act normal despite her size.

How has she been acting around the others...or vise versa for that matter?

The others haven't been paying any attention to her. I see the others in groups of two or three sticking together swimming around more then anything.

I tried but when I took everyone out I couldn't find her but I had the same number of Ottos. I didn't see eggs anywhere though.
