I don't really understand your problems. When the water goes below the overflow tube, it stops working ? If that's the problems then you just have to keep the water above the overflow tube.

that video doesn't show the external pump that is pulling water from the tank and pushing it back up.

ok. i got it finish. my new overflow system. work the best for me. i drill my tank near the top and use pipe for water to flow into and out the tank down to the sump. i talk to a guy that own a aquarium shop and he said to dont drill plexis glass because it going to crack. wat a noob. i drill it and it went right through it just like plastic. here is the picture to wat i did.

It's a bit hard to see with such small pictures but I think I can tell what everything is. In the first picture one is the overflow and the other is the return, right ?

well. 2 of the white thing is the overflow. and it goes down the back of the tank and to the sump on the bottom. the grey pipe on the left side is the filter pipe. i needed 2 overflow because the pump i use in the sump is too strong so 1 overflow will now be enough and it will be loud ass hell. even 2 is still loud but i use another filter tube on the right side. u can almost not see it. but it there. now with the second filter tube, the water level is just right above the overflow pipe. it much quit now. so much quiter.

Oh okay. I'd just be careful that nothing (fish wise) can get sucked into it.
