Penguin Power Sponge Filter (170gph) Question

    I've just purchased a Penguin Power Sponge Filter (170gph); I'm not familar with these but would like to know if the goal is to have flow going across the tank WITH bubbles...or to have the flow going across the tank WITHOUT bubbles in the stream?

    (seems the more I twist the valve thingey open the more I get the micro bubbles).
